Thank you for your two emails of 14 April 2015 on behalf of Wilsden Parish Council regarding the temporary closure of Wilsden Post Office.

 We understand the concern that the temporary closure of Wilsden Post Office is causing to our customers and have noted the Parish Council’s request for full postal services to be restored in Wilsden.  I would like to reassure you that our field team are working hard investigating the options available which will enable us to reinstate a Post Office service to your local community.

 With regards to the notice period given by the Postmaster to resign, I hope you will appreciate that I cannot go into specific detail about what is a contractual matter between us and the former Postmaster. 

Wilsden Post Office was operated on our behalf on an agency basis alongside our agent’s private business, and our agent was responsible for providing the premises from which the branch operated.  Accordingly, as the Postmaster has now left the business, the Post Office site is not being made available for continued use.   In order to continue providing a modern and professional service to the community, we are seeking new premises locally for anyone interested in providing Post Office services and the vacancy has been advertised through our national website for any interested party to apply.

Please be assured that we take the temporary closure of this branch seriously and do not underestimate the difficulties faced by the community during this closure period.  I would like to reiterate that we are continuing to seek a permanent solution for a future service that will be sustainable in the long term.

 Naturally we will ensure that you are kept advised of any future developments.
